What we set
Strictly necessary — set no matter what you choose, because the app cannot work without them:
Authentication session, set by Supabase — keeps you signed in. Required for the app to work.
Theme preference, stored locally as adventureos-theme — remembers whether you picked light, dark, or system theme.
Bot-challenge clearance, set by Cloudflare Turnstile on the sign-in, sign-up, and password-reset pages only — records that you passed the bot check so you are not asked again right away. It is scoped to adventureos.net, is not used to track you across other sites, and carries no advertising or analytics payload.
Under-13 sign-up block, stored locally as adventureos:age-gate:blocked-until — set only if someone states a date of birth under 13 during sign-up. It holds a time and nothing else, no account, email or date of birth, and stops this device from offering sign-up again for 24 hours.
Cookie choice, stored locally as adventureos-cookie-consent — the answer you gave in the cookie banner, so it is respected without asking again.
Kept calculator answer, stored locally as adventureos:calculator-handoff — set only if you press "Save to my … tools" under a calculator result before signing up. It holds the numbers you typed into that calculator, so they are filled in for you inside the app after you sign up, and it is deleted once they are, or after seven days.
Our own browsers, stored locally as adventureos:internal-traffic — set only in a browser that opens one of our pages with a special address our team uses. It holds a flag and nothing else, and keeps every analytics and advertising tag off in that browser so our own visits are not counted.
Advertising exclusion, stored locally as adventureos:ad-minor — set only if a date of birth under 18 is entered on this device. It holds a flag and nothing else, and keeps every advertising tag off this browser, whatever the cookie banner says, until a date of 18 or over replaces it.
Walkthrough progress, stored locally as adventureos:tours:seen — which of the app’s first-run walkthroughs this browser has already shown, so each plays once.
Install suggestion, stored locally as adventureos:install-card:dismissed: a flag that you dismissed the card suggesting you add AdventureOS to your home screen, so it is not shown again on this browser.
Alert suggestion, stored locally as adventureos:push-optin:dismissed: a flag that you dismissed the card suggesting you turn on severe-weather and check-in alerts, so it is not shown again on this browser.
Setup hints, stored locally as adventureos:onboarding:landing-module and, for the length of one browser session, as adventureos:onboarding:redirected — the first holds the activity page you came from (and when) for up to a day so the setup screen after sign-up can start with it ticked, and the second records that you have already been sent to that screen so you are not sent there again. Neither holds anything about you and neither leaves this device.
Return page, stored locally as adventureos:auth:return-path. Set only when you start signing up or signing in from a link inside the app, such as an invitation. It holds that page’s address within AdventureOS (and when) for up to a day, so confirming your email brings you back to it, and it is deleted once you are signed in. It holds nothing about you and never leaves this device.
Update recovery, stored for the length of one browser session as adventureos:chunk-reload — the time this tab last reloaded itself to pick up a new version of the app after an update left it holding an out-of-date page, so it reloads once and not in a loop. It holds a time and nothing else.
Cookie-choice visitor ID, stored locally as adventureos-consent-visitor-id — a random identifier sent with each cookie-banner decision so the decision can be recorded and shown back to you. It is not linked to your account until you sign in.
Offline copy, stored in this browser’s IndexedDB as adventureos-web — copies of pages you have loaded and changes you made while offline, kept on this device so the app works without a connection. Cleared when you sign out.
Golf round in progress, stored in this browser’s IndexedDB as adventureos-golf-round — the golf round you are playing: course, scores and the location of each tracked shot, kept on this device until it syncs to your account. Visible only to the account that started it, and cleared when you sign out.
Optional, only if you accept it — Google Analytics (GA4) cookies, which measure page views and feature usage in aggregate. GA4 runs only where a property is configured for this deployment and only after you accept the "Analytics" category below; it is not present otherwise.
Optional, only if you accept it — the campaign link you first arrived on, stored locally as adventureos:first-touch (its utm_ tags or ad click id, the referring site by name, and the landing page) and sent with your sign-up so we know which campaign brought you. It is written only after you accept the "Analytics" category and is deleted from your browser if you withdraw it.
Optional, only if you accept it — the shared adventure link that brought you here, stored locally as adventureos:referral (the link and when you opened it) and sent once when you sign up, so the member who shared it is credited. It is written only after you accept the "Analytics" category and is deleted from your browser if you withdraw it.
Optional, only if you accept it — sign-up and first-use markers, stored locally as adventureos:registered and adventureos:activated. Each lists the accounts on this device for which a sign-up or a first logged adventure has already been counted, so it is counted once. They are written only after an analytics or advertising vendor you accepted has counted the event, and never leave this device.
Optional, only if you accept it — Meta Pixel cookies, which measure page views and device/browser details to help us evaluate ad performance on Facebook and Instagram. Meta Pixel runs only where a pixel is configured for this deployment and only after you accept the "Advertising" category below; it is not present otherwise.
Your choices
The strictly necessary cookies above run no matter what you choose — the banner asks about each configured optional category (Analytics, Advertising), and always offers rejection on the same screen as acceptance.
Rejecting is remembered as a standing answer: a rejected category stays off for you without your having to come back and decline again, and any future optional category defaults the same way. We also honor a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as a rejection, without asking.

What we do not use
No third-party tag managers. Google Analytics is the only analytics vendor we use and Meta Pixel is the only advertising vendor we use, each only with your acceptance of its category — see "What we set" above.
No cross-site cookies of our own, and no profile of you built from your browsing. If you accept the Advertising category, Meta Pixel is a third-party tag with its own cookies, and it is off until you accept.
