Copyright / DMCA policy

Last updated: 2026-08-28.

Overview

AdventureOS respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects members to do the same. This policy explains how to report material you believe infringes your copyright, how a member who was named in a report can respond, and what happens to an account that infringes repeatedly.

Filing a takedown notice

If you believe material on AdventureOS infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our designated agent (below) that includes all of the following, per 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3):

1. Your physical or electronic signature. 2. Identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed. 3. Identification of the material you claim is infringing, and information reasonably sufficient for us to locate it (a URL, or the specific page/listing/comment). 4. Your contact information — address, telephone number, and email address. 5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law. 6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.

A notice missing any of these elements may not qualify as a valid notice under §512, which can delay our response.

What happens after a valid notice

We remove or disable access to the identified material, and we make a good-faith effort to notify the member who posted it, including a copy of the notice and an explanation of the counter-notice process below.

Filing a counter-notice

If you believe your material was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to our designated agent that includes, per 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3):

1. Your physical or electronic signature. 2. Identification of the material that was removed and its location before removal. 3. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification. 4. Your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for the district where your address is located (or, if outside the US, any judicial district in which AdventureOS may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the original notice.

On receiving a valid counter-notice, we forward it to the original notice-sender. Unless they inform us within 10–14 business days that they have filed a court action seeking to restrain the reinstated activity, we may restore the material.

Repeat infringers

Per 17 U.S.C. § 512(i), we terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of members who are repeat infringers.
